Strands By Nature is a natural hair care brand born from a deeply personal journey - a journey of rediscovery and self-love. Founded by Shaarid Greenland, the brand is rooted in a mission to empower people of color to embrace and nurture their natural hair with confidence.
Our Story
After years of hair straightening, chemical treatments and color damage, Shaarid reached a turning point. Determined to reclaim the health and beauty of her natural curls, she set off on a transformative journey across the Caribbean and Africa. There, she uncovered time-honored traditions in hair care - wisdom that had never been passed down to her.
Between 2013 to 2016, she immersed herself in the importance of deep conditioning, protective styling and minimising heat usage. This journey ultimately led her to embrace her hair’s natural curly texture, achieving remarkable growth and becoming completely natural and without a big chop.
From Passion to Purpose
As Shaarid’s hair flourished, so did the curiosity of others. Friends, family and strangers alike asked for tips, routines and eventually the very products she was using. During the 2020 lockdown, she began handcrafting small batches of natural hair products and the results spoke for themselves. What began as a passion project evolved into a 12-year journey of learning, experimenting and perfecting formulas designed specifically for textured hair. Today, Strands By Nature offers a carefully curated range of products made with natural ingredients and crafted with intention.
